The Spectra Venue Management team at Budweiser Gardens is proud to announce the 3rd House of Green goes ‘Green’ event when the London Knights face off against the Barrie Colts on Friday, January 10th. “Over the past two years, we have worked hard to develop the Green Game into an annual event and we are very excited to partner with the London Knights and Downtown London for another exciting game” said Brian Ohl, General Manager of Budweiser Gardens.
Once again, Spectra has teamed up with the London Transit Commission to offer fans coming to the game the opportunity to ride on LTC buses for FREE beginning at 5pm and running through the end of service. Each fan will need to present a valid ticket for that night’s game to gain entry onto the bus. “We are grateful that the LTC has partnered with us again on this great initiative to provide the 9,000 plus fans coming for the game the opportunity to ride free of charge and reduce carbon emissions,” said Ohl.
As in previous years, fans will have additional incentive to root for a London Knight’s shut-out as Reforest London and Spectra have partnered on the ‘Saves for Trees’ program that will see a tree planted for every save that a Knight’s goalie makes during the game as part of the Million Tree Challenge. Over 90 trees have been planted thus far as part of the program in which game-sponsor, Downtown London, generously matches the save total. Downtown London has agreed to continue their commitment to this initiative ensuring that each save will count beyond the scoreboard. Fans at the game are also encouraged to join the Saves for Trees program by sponsoring a tree for $25.
New this year, Spectra is proud to introduce Holiday Light recycling as part of the venue’s green initiatives. Beginning on Monday, January 6th and running until puck drop on January 10th, Londoners can bring their old indoor and outdoor holiday lights to Budweiser Gardens to be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner as part of the venue’s partnership with Waste Connections of Canada. “With this year’s game being so close to the holiday season, we thought it would be fitting to offer this service to the community,” said Ohl, “we are always looking for new ways to build on our efforts from previous years and this is another avenue that helps us to accomplish that.”
Patrons are asked to drop their lights off at Gate 3 Monday to Thursday from 8am to 8pm or at any of the entrances on Friday once doors open for the game.
