#BGReviewer: The Illusionists

May 28, 2019

The Illusionists Live! On the Start.ca stage at Budweiser Gardens was an incredibly magical evening, pun intended. I was never that kid who wanted to learn card tricks, who wanted to be a daredevil or who wanted to grow up to be a magician. But I can sincerely say that I am now an adult to wants to do all of those things.

The show will exceed your expectations as it’s not just someone standing onstage with a top hat ready to pull out a rabbit. The Illusionists is much more than that. They are a group of very skilled individuals with specific talents. While one hangs upside down in a straitjacket over bear traps another can deduce when your birthday is without you ever saying a word. There’s also a ventriloquist, a trickster, a sorceress and did I mention quite a few crossbows.

This is a word of warning, however, The Illusionists is an interactive show that encourages participation by the audience and could even bring you onstage to be part of the act. The entire crowd that night will recall a 7yro young man who just couldn’t figure out how the tissue paper ball kept disappearing. It was definitely an experience his entire family will tell for decades to come!

The Illusionist Live! Is beyond a ‘magic show’ it is a magic spectacular and you will laugh as much as you will say, ‘how did they do that?!’
