November Recap and Getting in the Holiday Spirit!
November was officially the busiest month of the year at Budweiser Gardens with 8 shows, 7 London Knights games, 2 London Lightning games, and 3 community events! Let's recap this past month AND look at some gift ideas for the upcoming holidays!
The busy month started with an epic show by Chris Young with special guests Morgan Evans and Dan + Shay who had the crowd singing and dancing all night long! The month was capped it off with the Broadway in London performance as Cirque Musica Holiday WONDERLAND that had patrons leaving in awe and in the holiday spirit.
The London Lightning is back! The team kicked off their 7th season with a pre-season game on November 15th and their home opener on November 18th. We look forward to another great season of basketball and record breaking crowds for the NBL!
The London Knights vs. Sudbury Wolves hockey game on November 9th marked the second Annual ‘Green Game’ where fans had the opportunity to ride the LTC bus down to the game for free as a way to reduce their carbon footprint. Spectra also partnered with ReForest London again and for every save that the London Knights goalie made, a tree would be planted as part of the ‘Million Tree Challenge’. Downtown London offered to match the total so this spring we will be planting 50 trees!
By December 1st we had a total of 17 changeovers which beat the total we had for “March Madness”. Our event floor was laid down and taken up a total of 15 times, which will end up covering 255,000 square feet of total decking! In addition to this, our hockey glass will be removed and installed 7 times, which is the equivalent of using 651 pieces of acrylic hockey glass.
On top of all the events going on in the building there were two very important press conferences that took place in the month of November. The first was a press conference hosted by the JUNOS with some exciting announcements for the upcoming JUNO week. Loud Luxury to announce that Loud Luxury announced that London has helped raise over $100,000 in support of MusicCounts. What a great feeling to know that the city has helped to put instruments in the hands of so many kids. Tickets for the JUNO awards and JUNO cup went on sale Friday November 30th at 10am.
The second press conference was hosted by Budweiser Gardens and Start.ca announce the new naming rights for the Theatre and Small Concert set up in the arena as the Start.ca Performance Stage at Budweiser Gardens. This press conference was held on the arena floor and the Start.ca Performance Stage featured a number by Belle Pointe Dance & Movement Company from the hit Broadway show Kinky Boots!
